Whether you love to indulge in the nostalgia of classic Disney films or old Disney Channel sitcoms, the Disney Plus streaming service delivers. The service hosts a vast majority of the entertainment you seek. Disney isn’t at all squeamish about reminding everybody that they have all the hottest properties that people watch. Even Star Wars has extensive material streaming on Disney Plus from the animated series’ to the Skywalker Saga. There is even LEGO Star Wars, and of course The Mandalorian, which is a runaway hit (are you in love with Baby Yoda too?). With so much great content that everybody’s watching, I wanted to share some of the top Disney Plus content you may not be watching….yet.
True Life Adventures
If you are any kind of Disney Historian you are most excited about the wide-open vault because it will connect you to forgotten Disney productions that became foundations of Disney as we know it today. True Life Adventures is a documentary series that preceded Disney Nature. It also was the inspiration for Adventureland during the early stages of Disneyland’s conception. These nature documentaries are a lot of fun. They will even make you feel nostalgic about some Disneyland experiences. The Mark Twain riverboat cruise on the Rivers of America and the Grand Canyon Diorama echo the series.

Mickey Mouse Shorts
Sometimes I feel like Disney Plus is exclusively around for the preservation and perpetuation of Mickey Mouse’s 90-year long career. Whether you are a fan of the classic shorts or the new version of Mickey and his friends, it’s all there on Disney Plus. Classics like Clock Cleaners and new award-winning hits are finally all available in one place.
The Muppets
Strangely the Muppets are not talked about much while their only remaining attraction languishes at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida. Disney has very proudly broadcast each of the properties owned by the company. The streaming platform even insists that the Simpsons is trending, while conspicuously one of the most “Disney” acquisitions the company made gets very little recognition. Nonetheless, You can see all the Muppet Movies and even the Muppets series on Disney Plus. You just have to look for it.
Gordon Ramsey: Uncharted
National Geographic is a big part of Disney Plus (again, very prominent on the platform with Muppets way out of anybody’s sightline). But although Jeff Goldblum is very charming and entertaining to watch, Gordon Ramsey also has a NatGeo show and it’s awesome. If you love adventure, food, or watching an impish Brit get knocked around a little bit this series is a lot of fun. It’s a whole new way to see Gordon Ramsey and a fresh perspective on the world.
Waking Sleeping Beauty
There are a lot of great documentaries on Disney Plus that I guarantee you aren’t watching. But some of them, like Waking Sleeping Beauty, are truly exceptional and– I would say– required viewing if you are a fan of Disney animation. The film tells a well-documented story with retrospective interviews about how Disney Animation hit rock bottom and was saved by what we know call the Disney Renaissance.
Avatar
If it wasn’t for Pandora at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, this movie would be forgotten. Which is crazy, because at one point it was the biggest movie ever. Now, with a vested interest in the would-be franchise and ownership of the original film, Disney’s planning sequels. That means Avatar is back, or at least it will be. You can see it now as one of the many Fox films that have already migrated over to the platform.
