If you are a fan of Disney Parks, you probably know by now that the hottest ticket in the galaxy right now is being able to secure a boarding pass for Rise Of The Resistance in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at either Walt Disney World or Disneyland. I traveled to Batuu this and brought back some tips to hopefully help you experience what I think is one of the best attractions at Walt Disney World. Here are my best tips for How To Get A Rise Of The Resistance Boarding Group.

Let me first say that I was in awe at just how immersive Rise of The Resistance is. Totally Bright Suns when I visited. I felt like I was in the middle of a Star Wars movie. You are involved in an epic battle against the First Order on this exciting new ride. To sum up the premise of the ride in a few sentences, you join the Resistance on a secret mission and are intercepted by a Star Destroyer while on a Transport ship. Assisted by Finn, you flee Stormtroopers and Kylo Ren in search of an escape pod that will drop you to safety. And immersive it is. A First Order soldier came face to face with me for not facing the right direction.

But here is the kicker to this whole new ride experience, you need a game plan (or a Disney Game Plan…wink, wink) for getting a boarding group to experience this out of this world attraction. I give props to my bestie Gina for teaching me some of these Rise of the Resistance tips. What is a boarding group you ask? It is a fancy term for a virtual queue. So in other words, FastPass is not available for this ride.

If you are lucky enough to get assigned a boarding group, you have a two-hour window to return to the ride. We were assigned boarding group 59. Our group was called at 11:34 a.m.

And the kicker on top of the kicker…even if you get a boarding pass for Rise of the Resistance, depending on your boarding group number, there is no guarantee you will actually get on the ride. Will this be the way for the long haul? I have a feeling it will not. But for now…this is the way.

So I have a few tips I want to share with you. Fingers crossed your boarding group will be called and you too will travel to forest outside Black Spire Outpost for this secret and oh so cool mission.

Best Rise Of the Resistance Boarding Group TIPS

Arrive Early at Hollywood Studios

I suggest arriving at least an hour before park opening. This means you should catch the first bus from your resort or even call for an Uber/Lyft. Double Check park hours too. We arrived a solid hour before Hollywood Studios opened. They let us in a half-hour before for crowd control at the entrance area.

Make Sure The My Disney Experience App Is Installed On Your Phone

Chances are if you are staying at a Disney World resort, you already have the My Disney Experience app on your phone. It is basically your key to the kingdom. But if you are staying off-property or just visiting locally for the day, you will want to navigate to My Disney Experience, add it to your phone and create an account. You must have this app to even attempt to join a Rise of the Resistance Boarding Group.

Also, make sure you enable notifications for the app so if you do get assigned a boarding group, you will get notified of when your group is called.

Connect to everyone in your party before you arrive at the park.

Once you create a My Disney Experience account, you want to be connected with everyone in your party BEFORE you get to the park. If you are riding solo, you can skip this step. Everyone has to be connected.

To connect with family and friends in your party, Select the Three Lines on the bottom right. Toggle down and select My Profile. This will bring you to your account page. Then Select Family & Friends List. Select Add a Guest. At this point, you can either search for contacts or enter name and age. You can also add Family & Friends on the Disney World Website as well.

When it comes time to join a boarding group, you will need to select every person you want to ride. This can be tricky because as soon as the clock strikes and the park opens, you have to be quick. If you have a very large party, this can be even trickier because you will have to scroll through your friends list on the app and select everyone’s name.

Turn off Wifi

I find the WIFI throughout Disney World to be hit or miss. Imagine thousands of people all vying for a coveted boarding group clogging up the interwebs. Yep. That leads to one massive data overload and spinning circles. Turn off your WIFI for a better and quicker chance of navigating through the app.

Be physically located INSIDE the park

In order to try to score a boarding group, you have to be physically inside the park. That means you scanned your magic band and fingerprint and made your way through the park entrance past the cast members.

Close Your My Disney Experience App

Before you enter the park, make sure you close out My Disney Experience app so you start fresh. The app is GPS based so closing it out will clear out past data so it actually knows you are physically inside the park. When you reopen the app, you will see the Rise of The Resistance link at the top of the page.

Two Is Better Than One. Three Is Better Than Two

Have multiple members of your party try as soon as the park officially opens. Your chances of getting a boarding pass will increase if more people in your party try too.

Visit Batuu Sooner Rather Than Later

If you are not day-tripping to Walt Disney World, I suggest visiting Hollywood Studios earlier during your vacation. This way, if you do not get assigned a boarding group, you can try again another day.

Keep Your Fingers Crossed

As I said before, you can go through this entire process, secure a boarding group and still not get a chance to experience Rise of The Resistance. There is no guarantee. We were boarding group 59 but disclaimer on app said groups 64 and above may not gain entry. I wish you Bright Suns my friends in this galactic quest.
